Braves tennis team ready for playoff push

The brave tennis team looked to start a hot streak this week with games against Eastside Catholic and Roosevelt. The braves went head on with the crusaders last week and came out victorious. With that win the team hoped to start this week strong and start a win streak.

On Tuesday the braves ventured all the way to Newport to face Eastside Catholic, hoping to get similar results as the week before. And they did just that, beating the crusaders with a resounding 8-1 victory.

“Despite our slow start, I really believe this team is coming together.” said junior Tommy Kane, “this last push toward the end of the season will show our true potential.”

Now rolling with some momentum, the players set their sights to their next match against the Rough Riders of Roosevelt. A win against the riders would give the braves a three game win streak and loads of confidence heading into the final weeks of the season. Winning seven of the possible eleven games the braves got what they were hoping for and their three win streak exams a reality.

“With the season almost over, I’m so proud of everyone on the team,” said senior Ollie Anderson, “our results the first half of the year didn’t show our true talent. But now as the season winds down, the results are really starting to show. Now our focus is toward the playoffs and hopefully a run at state.”

Blanchet takes on the Irish/cougar combo in a Holy Names and O’Dea showdown that takes place at Lower Woodland. It’s the last regular season match for the braves and is also the game of the week. The Metro tournament starts next Saturday’s for those individuals, or doubles, that qualify.
