Archbishop Murphy brought their energy and smart playing, but that was not enough to take the victory away from the braves. The first set ended 25-23, but despite the close appearing score, the Braves had complete control of the game. A 25-15 score for the second set illustrates the power and ability behind the 2016 JV team. Leading the team with four aces and eleven assists, sophomore captain Cameron Ferguson brought empowering leadership on the court.

“The game went well,” said JV Captain Cameron Ferguson, “Our victory was due to our serves and good communication between passers.”

Starting outside hitter freshman Kayla Richardson, a new addition to the team, put away seven kills for the Braves in the Murphy game and helped the team attain a second victory against Shorewood with nine kills.

Assistant coach Kyle Wong sees high potential in the team and Kayla Richardson; “Her hard work ethic allows her to strive as well as her teamwork mindset and attitude.”

The second quick win for the Braves against Shorewood with the final scores of 25-19 and 25-18 leaves the team with high hopes for the upcoming metro season.

“Ultimately, the goal for the season is to make the JV players better,” said Wong, “so they can help improve the program and soon be at the varsity level.”

The Brave JV Volleyball Team is gaining the mental fortitude and athleticism needed to transition to varsity and is well on its way to a victorious 2016 season.
