Eight weeks into the season, the Brave JV volleyball team has yet to face a team to match their spirit and competitiveness.

Every game has been an opportunity to showcase big talent and a mindset of hard work. Captain Cameron Ferguson has helped pool together wins against big rivals such as Holy Names with hard hitting, leading to five kills, and an impressive 12 assists during the September 22 match. However, she continues to keep her focus on the remaining games.

“Our team (goals),” said captain Cameron Ferguson, “are to win the rest of our games in the season, to keep high energy in our games, and to always play to our full potential during games.”

Head Coach Lisa Srithongsuk accredits this success to a strong head game.

“The team has a strong desire to play their best volleyball every time they walk out onto the court,” Srithongsuk said. “They push themselves and each other to be better players, and they compete in friendly competition.”

With only a few remaining weeks, the team has found some difficulty in keeping practice focused and highly intensive, resulting in their 3-0 loss to Seattle Prep.

“We have been able to get passed it,” said Ferguson “by getting excited for each other on the court because that brings the whole team’s energy up.”

The Braves hope to improve their very impressive 10-1 record in the matches this week. The remaining upcoming games are against metro teams the JV has already competed with, starting with a match against Lakeside School on October 13, so they enter into the next few matches with an optimistic outlook on the end of the season.
