When did you first start drawing and why?

I have been drawing for such a long time, it feels like forever. I remember that my dad used to show me his art work when I was in the second grade, and I was just amazed. Ever since then, art has been a part of my life. I didn’t really start drawing seriously up until freshman year, though.

What kinds of things do you enjoy drawing the most?

I love drawing anything from new fonts to people. It all just depends on the mood I’m in. I’ve also drawn a couple of tattoos for people before, and I love doing that. The first tattoo I ever designed was this gypsy lady. She had this amazing head piece and it was for a friend. I’ve also done some quotes, an airplane, a cross, and an anchor.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of Voices?

I think any type of art is an amazing talent, and I think that having a collaboration of student work, like there is in Voices, is really cool. The mix of all of it is really fascinating to me, and that’s my favorite part, but being noticed for your work is always nice too.

Does anything inspire you?

A lot of things do inspire me. Other artists, my surroundings, and even the shows I’m watching. Art is all about inspiration I think. So you get this little moments of inspiration that just hit you. My latest source has been Dexter. It may sound a bit weird but you literally can find inspiration through anything. Sometimes being in class is enough to spark something.

Do you want to continue drawing in the future/any plans in college that involve it?

I’m sure that art will always be a part of my future, but I’m not going to school for it. If I decide to go and pursue art in the future, it isn’t really something you need a degree for. As long as you can make art and be happy with it, you’ll have a job. College has nothing to do with that.
Do you have a favorite artist?
Mr. Cartoon. He’s an amazing tattoo artist in LA and I’ve been in his studio and he’s just crazy talented. He’s tattooed Snoop and Eminem. He also designs cars that I’ve seen in his shop and they are amazingly detailed.
