ASB Decides Homecoming Theme

On Friday, September 22nd, the Blanchet ASB officers led a meeting of the class cabinets to discuss the upcoming homecoming week.

Along with Ms. Meaux, the ASB has been getting all of the small details down for the assembly and dress-up days. After plenty of discussion and argument, they put together one of the most unique and exciting themes Blanchet has seen in years: board games.

The dress up days this year are a mixture between classics and new ideas. To start off the week, is the traditional pajama day, represented by the board game, Candy Land. Tuesday is Guess Who Day, where students dress up as twins with another student. Wednesday is Life Day, students dress up for careers, such as doctors, lawyers, professional sports players, or musicians. Thursday is Treasurer Derek Loen and Masika Ulwenya’s coveted day: Jumanji Day, also known as Safari Day. Students will dress up in their best animal attire. Friday is Sorry Day, where students dress in their class colors for the assembly. The details of the assembly were asked to be confidential, because the ASB has planned plenty of surprises for the students.

“Hopefully it (Homecoming Week) turns out well,” says Senior Dylan Murphy. “I’ve got high hopes, and I heard the assembly is going to be pretty cool.”

The seniors are especially excited to see how it goes, because they have been expressing some mixed opinions about the ASB officers this year. Although the first assemblies have gone over well, the ASB video had to be delayed for unknown reasons for over a week. The video itself turned out very well, though, and classmates gave them credit for it.

“That was a pretty bad sign, and it shows a lack of work ethic,” Eli Sherwood says about the delay of the video. “If they keep acting like that, this Homecoming Week will be a failure.”

Only a few days away, Homecoming Week has created plenty of buzz around the school. The student leaders are taking risks this year, and they believe they can live up to the hype.
