‘Tis the Season to Drink a Starbucks Latte.

As I am walking down the sidewalk, with the leaves crunching under my feet, I pull my jacket in tighter as the cold air blows my way, and take a sip from my favorite peppermint hot chocolate from Starbucks, a drink they offer during the holiday season.

Starbucks, a chain coffee company, with headquarters located in Seattle, Washington, offers a selection of drinks every holiday season. These drinks include the PSL (pumpkin spice latte), peppermint mocha or hot chocolate, and introduced this year, the Christmas tree frappuccino.

“My favorite drink is the chestnut praline latte,” said junior Delaney Belfie. “It is not overly sweet, and the pralines give it an interesting flavor and add a bit of crunchiness.”

What gives these seasonal drinks from Starbucks an added flair is the custom holiday cups they serve their drinks in every year. Originally, the cups were plain red, but in recent years Starbucks have changed things up and for the past few years offered them in different designs.

Not only do I enjoy the sweet taste of a sugary coffee early in the morning on a cold winter’s day, I get to show off my red starbucks cup and watch admirers who wish they had a holiday drink themselves.

“I am just a basic white girl and like the PSL,” laughed Nolan Neumann. “The main reason I like it is for the caffeine. I make an effort to not purchase any coffee outside of my home… except for my PSL.”

In my life, one of my favorite parts of winter is looking forward to all the seasonal flavors, especially the ones brought to me by Starbucks. All of the seven plus flavors all bring a delightful holiday celebration to the tongue.

“Did you know you can get a peppermint mocha all year round?” Kyle Scott exclaimed. “You just ask them to add 2 pumps or so of peppermint syrup to your mocha.”

But won’t that ruin the whole reason to wait all year for these drinks? Take away the grandiose reunitement when you finally get a sip of that favorite Starbucks holiday drink again. Some people wait (like me) and some people don’t. It is all about your holiday drink preference.

So whether you are a PSL kind of person or a plain old drip coffee, Starbucks seasonal drinks has a cup for everyone during this holiday season, and I definitely know, I will be grabbing one for myself.
