The “Magic Bus”, parked in the Quad for Homecoming Week, was packed with food, in hopes of earning a day off from school.

On the Friday morning of Homecoming week 2014, students and faculty alike made the last push to fill one of our medium sized buses full of food.

The plan called for the bus load of food to make a stop at the Mt. Matthew Parish food bank, then to bring whatever food was left to the Lake City food bank.

The event, the brain child of the Christian Ministry office, would take the place of the traditional  Chocolate Sale day off.  If students and faculty alike could literally fill a bus with food, a day off would be granted, and things were close.

In fact, so much food was brought in on the last day of the food drive that the legs of the table upon which the food was stacked collapse.

Web-3As all the food was brought into bus, the piles filled the seats, but did not cover the windows.

During the Homecoming assembly at the end of the day, Ms. Tara Suchland made the announcement that nobody wanted to hear.

“We are about 30% short of our goal,” said Suchland.

Disappointment was soon replaced by a ray of hope – the deadline was given an extension.

Bishop Blanchet has one more day to try to reach its goal.  On Monday morning, Braves have one more chance to fill the bus by bringing bags of non-perishable food stuffs to school.

Before the end of the day, two food banks will be well stocked, and the hopes and dreams of 900 students may be realized. Students and faculty alike are encouraged to bring their bags to theschool cafeteria before the beginning of school.
