The recently-released movie, Split, is an absolute thriller as a man with Dissociative Identity Disorder kidnaps three teenage girls.

The man named Kevin embodies 24 different personalities including “Barry”, “Dennis”, “Patricia”, “Hedwig”, and most dangerously, “the Beast”. The three girls try to use the different personalities to their advantage as they try to escape before the unleashing of “the Beast”

“This is one of the scariest movies I’ve seen,” said senior Makenna Martin, “because it is so realistic.”

Dissociative Identity Disorder is an absolutely real mental issue that people have and without care, some people are left with a mind that makes them act in dangerous ways. Additionally, teenagers often are oblivious to the dangers of others until it happens to them and the portrayal of the girls being kidnapped is a sad reality that could be a possibility to some victims.

“I recommend this movie,” said senior Rebecca Drouin, “I like how different it is from most scary movies.”

Split is much different than most horror movies where all victims are targeted in the end. In this movie, Kevin only kills the “un-pure” who have not been hurt by others before. He sympathizes with those that are “pure” like himself who was left by his dad on a train and abused by his mentally ill mother.
