Blanchet Softball Heading to the Playoffs

The Blanchet Softball Team is on fire, winning five straight games. They were in the middle of the pack sitting at 7-7 but have now won the division finishing with a record of 12-7. They are one of the league’s hottest teams, and it comes at the perfect time as they head into the playoffs this weekend.

“The team has played great all season,” said Freshman Evy Alveno. “There were times where we squandered some opportunities on offense, or we gave up too many runs, but overall it’s been a very successful season. Hopefully our success will continue this weekend.”

Overall, the team has played fantastic. They weren’t predicted to have a very good record this year but have played better than anyone could imagine. After a 2-4 start to the season, they have an impressive 10-3 record since.

“I think we will be fantastic next year,” said Freshman Hilary Hagen. “We have really grown as a team and with all our young players we definitely will keep getting better.”

With a very young team, they have a very high upside next year and may go from an underdog to a favorite.

“We won the division, and we have been competitive with most of the teams in the upper division,” said Coach Lisa Olsen. “We are playing the best softball at the right time.”
