It was the first match of the 2019 season, and the Braves golf team flew past West Seattle in a 137 to 89 point win.

It was a long half hour bus ride to a public course in West Seattle. Each team member held so much excitement as they arrived at the course. They all got off the big yellow bus and saw their opponents, West Seattle. Scoping out the other team just made them that much more excited to begin their first match of 2019.

The boys and girls squads had been practicing for weeks beforehand and felt that they were prepared to win. They started the match and shortly after, gained a lead. They had no trouble defeating West Seattle. Junior Ben Van Hollenbeke shot one under par, helping lead the team to victory.

“The team has been successful with our win over West Seattle,” said Senior Captain Ryan Moore. “We are expecting to be very competitive in the Metro League this year.”

Not only did the team fly past their first competitors, but they are anticipating a very successful season. They continue to practice and get better as individuals and as a team.

“The team is very comfortable with each other which allows for our growth, we already are improving so much,” said senior Pilar Rutkowski.

Rutkowski is confident their comfort with each other will help them grow as a team and will lead to their future success.
