Taylor Swift releases the biggest album of the year

When Taylor Swift does something, it never goes without notice. On her fifth album 1989, she made sure all eyes were on her. 1989 is a drastic departure her once country-sound and her trademark tear-stained guitar. But she’s still Taylor Swift, which means she’s making a name for herself just the same.Taylor-Swift-2

A majority of the album is produced by Max Martin who provided catchy beats for a laid-back Saturday night. Her lyrics in “Welcome to New York” can relate to all teenage girls as she dreams about being single and living life in nowhere else but New York City.

In addition, the ironically titled “Style,” where she swoons, “You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye” will leave any listener chuckle and sing along.

The best moments come toward the end, when Swift shakes up the concept. “How You Get the Girl” mixes up the best of her old and new tricks, as she strums an acoustic guitar aggressively over Martin’s expert disco surge.

Sonically, 1989 is far more electronic than her previous work which has obviously worked for Swift, since she is on pace to sell more than 1 million copies of 1989 in its opening week—a feat no solo artist has achieved since Swift herself did it two years ago with Red.

Although Swift has faced many haters and hardships in her career, she still remains smiling, and with reason. 1989 is an outstanding album which even an adult will find themselves rocking out to in the car when it comes on the radio.
