French Week

After German Week expired with an inevitable demise on October 17th, the French Week shows its beginning as the following language week event on November.

With the aid of Moderator Mrs. Margaret Newcomb, President Nebiyuh Getaneh, Vice President Hope Gould, Secretary Tamar Arganian, Treasurer Maddie Hanshew, French week ran from November 17th to November 21st with many daily meditations, competitions, and foods that stimulate the euphoria out of people’s minds.

The French Week featured a diverse assortment activities. On Monday,  demonstrated their culinary skills with Croque Monsieur during lunch time.

Croque Monsieur is the French sandwich with main ingredients of grilled ham and either Emmental or Gruyere cheese. Originating in French cafés as a snack, it first emerged on Parisian cafe menu in 1910.

Tuesday was Crepes Day. Before classes began in the morning, the club was cranking out thin pancakes that are indigenous in Brittany, the Northwestern region of France. These delicious pancakes are usually served with various fillings, and there are special types with distinctive appearance and ingredients.

For those energized by crepes in the morning,  a Tour de France competition took place  in the quad at lunches as hardy cyclist peddled child-sized tricycles around the quad.

An enormous bake sale followed on Wednesday during both lunches.

On Thursday, the members sold Croissants. On the last day, Friday, there is a French color event and fashion show at during lunch time.

Wednesday, there is an enormous bake sale for both 1st lunch and 2nd lunch. There will be many types of baked French bread and cookies.
