Braves win Homecoming game against Lakeside

The Bishop Blanchet varsity football team beat Lakeside 42-14 in the Homecoming game on October 16, 2015.

The victory improved the varsity football team’s season record to 6-1.

Senior running back Grant Wilson led Blanchet’s rushing attack while senior Quarterback Alex Freeman led the air game with four touchdown passes, three of which were caught by senior Clinton Allen Jr.  Senior Sam Gardner had two interceptions.

The Brave defense forced five turnovers. Senior Adam Gryniwicz blocked a punt and senior Aiden Sharpe returned an onside kick attempt to bring the game to its final score.

The Braves were 35-0 by the end of the second quarter. The band and the Cheer Squad performed during halftime. The Cheer Squad’s routine included the crowd favorite Super Sonic, which was performed alongside fans.

“Homecoming was fun,” said senior Clarissa Ramirez. “You could definitely feel the Brave pride and spirit throughout the crowd.”

The Braves entered the third quarter with a touchdown in the first 9 seconds to bring the score to 42-0.

Lakeside made a final push in the fourth quarter to bring the final score to 42-14.

The Braves varsity football team plays Seattle Prep next at the West Seattle Stadium on October 23.
