With an ending to their season, the JV girl’s soccer team finished with a phenomenal record of 9-4-1.

The girl’s started their season with a team service project, packing school supplies into boxes for those that are less fortunate.

The service project was a highlight of the season along with the girls enjoying the presence of a Seattle Sounders player at one of their practices.

This season was Coach Fabio Almeida’s first season with the Bishop Blanchet girls soccer program.

“He taught us to appreciate everything we have,” said sophomore, Kara Cunningham,”because people from where he lived were not as fortunate as us.”

Learning new skills and valuable life lessons made Almeida’s coaching style respectable and efficient for the girls soccer team.

The start of the season was difficult, being that many of the girls were new to playing with one another. It was initially hard for the team to communicate especially after the initial loss to Holy Names Academy, 4-0.

Veering the middle of the season, the girls turned around and ended on a winning streak with their hard work and determination for a successful season. Although the team did not do MVPs and alternated captains by a week to week basis, the team grew together as one.

“We learned over the season how to be a leader,”  said Cunningham, “and how to communicate effectively on and off the field.”

Overall the season went out with a bang, and the countdown until next season begins now!
