Every team needs a leader no matter what level, and the JV girls basketball has found that in their junior point guard Ashley Moriarty.

Moriarty has been a key part in the team’s early success this season and hopes to continue to lead her team to a positive and prosperous season.

“She is always very positive and motivating,” said freshman Katie Watt. “She’s an excellent leader when it comes to helping people understand plays and different skills.”

Moriarty has been playing basketball since middle school and has played for Blanchet for all three years she has attended BBHS.

“I love my team and am so grateful for the chance to play this great sport in high school,” said Moriarty. “I really like being a ‘big sister’ for some of the younger players on the team and help them grow in their own game.”

Moriarty will play a key part in varsity’s success next year as she will play her last season of high school ball. She is one of only two juniors on the team and has such a great presence on the court with her teammates.

“We all look up to her since we have a younger group with not much experience at the high school level. She is constantly positively motivating us and never bring us down,” said freshman Jordan Ruiz.

Ashley will set her sights towards the future and continue to be a positive role model for her younger colleagues.
