JVC hoops learning from experience of others

With a great coach, fun team dynamic and hard work, the JVC team can accomplish anything.

Opening their season, the Freshman girl’s basketball team was successful. Part of their victories have been their skills and their new coach, Taylor Jensen. However, what really gets the freshman excited is hanging out with each other.

“We all really like each other.” said freshman Deborah Gebreyesus. “I think part of the reason we are doing so well is because we all work together and respect one another!”

The team does several things to boost their morale. With practices, team bondings, and drills dedicated to improving basic skills, the freshman team is ready to step up to improve the varsity and JV teams next year. With five varsity seniors graduating this season, the freshman team is an important aspect to the program.

“We’re going to really miss the seniors.” said sophomore JV player Summer Cyr who was a freshman team player last year. “They are all so talented, and it’s kind of intimidating playing with them. When they’re gone, I know the teams will be in good hands because we have all played against the seniors. They improve us all whenever we scrimmage or practice with them.”

All in all, the JVC program at Bishop Blanchet is doing quite well, and it’s all because of their love for each other and the sport of basketball.
