Why not try out something new?

Starting a new sport your freshman year may be nightmare for some. For freshman Alex Hunter, playing basketball this year was a no-brainer.

“I just wanted to do something new,” said Hunter. “Basketball sounded fun, and a lot of my friends were doing it.”

Finishing her last game with 6 points, Hunter has excelled in the guard position. She enjoys practices with her friends.

“Everyone should try a new sport their freshman year! It was a great experience,” said Hunter.

Hunter believes in balancing her schoolwork with fun activities. It helps her to become a more well-rounded person and a better friend to her peers. Studies at the Seattle Children’s Hospital have even shown that adding a new activity to a teenage schedule is a healthy way to release energy and stress from the day.

Trying something new may seem scary, but at Bishop Blanchet there are so many clubs and sports to get involved in. What’s the harm in trying?
