After a lot of hard work, sweat, laughter, and hard-fought victories basketball the boys JVC basketball team finished with a 12-5 record.

The team was in every game they played in, including the five loses. The squad suffered losses to Garfield, Franklin, Ingraham, O’Dea, and Prep—five of the top teams in the league. They were so much into every game that they only lost by a combined point total of 14 points in all games. That means that the team was one shot behind in each game, which is an impressive feat.

“This was one of the best teams that I have coached,” said Coach Sean Gaskill. “They competed for all 32 minutes of every game.”

The biggest improvement for the team this year was in the area of team defense.

“We started understanding the concepts of helpside defense and closing out on the ball,” said power foward Maar Raambang.

These concepts helped out for the final four games of the Braves season.

The team’s best game was against Bainbridge. The boys had energy, focus, and many players stepped up, making it the best showing of the year.
