After an excellent performance against West Seattle on Friday, February 12, 2016, the 2016 Metro League girls basketball champions continued their playoff run and faced Rainier Beach on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

The Blanchet Braves set the tempo early on in the game through quick defense and positive offensive possessions. They were able to establish a steady lead in the first quarter finishing over the Vikings 23-9.

Juniors Taylor Chambers and Jadyn Bush continued their dominance in the Metro League and were the top scorers of the night.

Chambers finished the night with 15 points and continues to lead the Metro League in assists with 99 on the season.

Bush exceeded her season point average of 18 points ending the night with an impressive 22.

With the help of Beach’s NiRae Petty, the Vikings were able to make a run toward the end of the fourth quarter scoring 20 points while the Braves only scored 12.

Although the Vikings played competitively and showed great determination, the Braves were able to maintain their lead and won the game 70-50.

The Braves look to take their playoff run just as far as they have been able to do in the previous two years.

“The team is taking it one game at a time,” said junior Jadyn Bush. “I hope that everyone plays to the best of their abilities, win or lose, or draw. I have a feeling that if everyone plays how they are capable of, we will reach our season goals.”

The next game in the District playoffs is against Mercer Island at 6:30 PM on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Bellevue College.
