The cast and crew are just a couple weeks in to working on the Spring Musical, Mary Poppins. In the midst of all the excitement, we grabbed stage crew head and set designer Corey Eriksen and asked him a few questions about the appearance of the play.

Q: What will the appearance of the play be, and are you attempting to make it resemble that of the movie?
A:We are designing it with suggested moments instead of a full set, little moments here and there. For the Banks’ house, for example, we will have the nursery on stage, or the kitchen, not the full house set up like the one they had in the movie. The costumes will be much closer to those in the movie.

Q: What are a few standout pieces of the appearance that you believe will astound the audience?
A: The rooftops of London are going to look great and will actually look a little similar to those in the movie.

Q: How will this showing of Mary Poppins differ from performances of the past here at Blanchet?
A: Same high quality standards. Obviously it will be a little different because we have a new wonderful director, but in set design and hair and makeup and costumes, nothing much will have changed. We’re still at the high quality standards Blanchet has always put into our drama program.
