After coming off an impressive win last week, the BBHS boys lacrosse team fell to Golden High School on March 23, 2016, losing to final score of 10-4.

As rain poured over their helmets and soaked their jersey’s, both teams violently battled for possession in the first half.

The brave offense was lead by senior Jeff Petchel, who scored first for the braves. Freshman Forrest Snorsky also added two goals to help the team gain momentum and stay in it.

Defensively, junior Jaybry Doyle-Huph kept the team looking alive, and was able to end the night with multiple saves.

“Our defense was really solid last night,” said senior Noah Traynor. “Jaybry made sure we were all fired up and knew where to be. He had some awesome saves.”

According to Traynor, the team’s main impediment was possesion.

After scoring four goals in the first half, the brave offense was limited and didn’t score again in the second half.

“I think the rain definitely got the best of us,” said junior Lucas Gordon. “It was cold, it was wet, and we couldn’t keep the ball on our half.”

On the other hand, the players thought it was an outstanding experience playing a team from Colorado, and they believe it helped them get better. Playing a team they wouldn’t usually face also gave the players a new perspective.

“It was really cool to play against other high schoolers from another state and to be able to talk to them about the similarities and differences between our schools and our styles of play,” said senior Christian Peterson.

Although they were defeated, the braves remain hopeful for the rest of the season.

The team will have a break over the following week, and pick up again against Kennedy on April 7, 2016, at 6:00 PM at BBHS. Not only is this the game of the week, but all players who are currently on the injured reserved will be eligible to play, giving the team an even greater advantage heading into the heart of the season.
