This week the Braves varsity soccer team played the Rainier Beach Vikings, and came out on top with a victory of 4-2, the team’s first of the season.

“This has been my favorite game of the season so far” said senior Edwin Cordova, “just seeing my teammates come together and be so fired up on the field was a great feeling.”

Those good vibes were short lived, however, as the Braves fell to a strong team from Seattle Prep, 5-1.

“We do not get down about a loss,” said Cordova. “ We just take it along with us and learn from it. There are a lot of new members on the team, so we just have to learn how to equally help each other out on the field and be united.”

The Braves played with high energy all game and are looking forward to carry this energy for all games. One thing is certain to all members of the team: once they step out onto the field, they give it their all throughout the game.

“It has been hard losing 11 seniors (from last year’s team),” ,” said junior Tanner Hanay. “We work really hard to be consistent out on the field.”

The Braves do not let this get in the way of putting their best foot forward.

Many members on the team have had a deep passion for soccer since they were very young.

“I love how soccer rarely stops,” said junior Will Karges, “it is always moving at a fast pace and it is very competitive.”

Before games they listen to their music to hype them up and get them into the game spirit.

“Right before the game start, s I always re-tie my cleats,” said Karges, “it’s something that I’ve always done.”

The Braves will continue to press on throughout the season, working together and becoming an unbeatable team on the field.

The team is looking forward to seeing new fans out in the stands during home games. They take on Ingraham on  Tuesday March 29th on Mickey Naish field at 7:00pm.
