“Play the game as if it is your last” is sophomore, Alina Gemza’s motto when it comes to game time.

The Braves girls lacrosse team has started their first season on an incredible note. With a 5-0 record, the girls have a bright future ahead of them. Winning scores included 12-5 over Ballard, 16-3 over North Kitsap, 10-5 over Edmonds Woodway, 12-3 over Kennedy Catholic, and 11-7 over Roosevelt.

“After our first games I am very happy with the results”, said head coach, Anna Gustafson, “not just the score but that the team is doing everything we have learned at practice.”

Composed of players from all four classes, the team has worked hard to get to where they are now, 5-0 at the start of the season, and have come out strong to prove themselves. As far as friendship goes, it is very clear that there is a strong connection between the team, on and off the field.

“One thing I have to say is that being on the lacrosse team has really opened me up and showed me how to be a strong player and person”, said freshman, Lena Gorev, “it really feels like a sisterhood on and off the team.”

The team has their next game at 5:30 on Tuesday, April 19th against Lakeside JV. This is a home game, on Mickey Naish Field, so be sure to come and show your support!
