A selective group of the Braves Track and Field team arrived to Pasco in the, Tri-cities Washington on Friday, April 14th and competed the next day on Saturday, April 15th at the Pasco Invite.

Bishop Blanchet competed against various teams all across the nation such as Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Alaska, and Wyoming.

Junior Jeremiah Stone placed 4th in his heat for the 110 hurdles and he won the triple jump. He accomplished goals during this meet but still wants to improve in his form in the next meet. He had great determinism and strength during this competition and thought his team competed very well.

“Everyone brought their all,” said Stone, “we proved that Blanchet has the capability to bring great athletes to the competition.”jeremiah

Stone is setting seasonal goals to win state and to jump 48 by the end of the season.

The Braves concluded to an impressive second place in Pasco with one of our very own runners, Zach Shugart being voted the best athlete of the meet.

This Thursday April 22, the whole brave track and field team went to Bainbridge to face both Bainbridge and Lakeside in the hot sun.

Both girls and boys track teams won this meet with an impressive 62 points overall for the girls and 85 for the boys.

The strengths this meet included the Pole vaulters, throwers, hurdlers, and long and triple jumpers all having multiple people placing in the top to score points for the Braves.

“I think something that really stood out to me,” said, senior Abbie Ranta, “was that our team was assigned to hurdle crew so we had to remove, adjust, and place hurdles for all four hurdle races but we accomplished it and did a good job.”

The team went home placing first in 100m hurdles, pole vault, long jump, discus, shot put, the 4×100 relay, 800m, 110 hurdles and triple jump.

“I think most of us didn’t hit the marks we wanted,” said, Senior Julia Oishi, “but we still did a phenomenal job!”

Oishi plans to beat her personal record for both shot put and disc before the season ends and hopes that her team will win metros this year.

Make it out to Edmonds Stadium for the Terrace Invite on Saturday April 23, at 9:30 am.
