In a confidence boosting win on Tuesday, the Brave Softball team is now gaining some needed momentum.

At Lower Woodland on Tuesday the Braves faced a struggling Franklin Quakers team. The team got off to a quick start scoring a couple of runs in the first. They tacked on many more to blank the Quakers 10-0.

Sophomore, Gianna Marchese, started the game off and went deep into the game. Freshman Lily King then came in to withhold the shutout and recorded some more whiffs from the Franklin batters. The two combined for ten strikeouts. A dominating performance from the two underclassman.

This team is very young, but it is paying off this point of the season.

Following the victory, catcher Greta Givet said, “We have a lot of youth which hurt us early in the season. However, this point of the year the youth is bringing a spark to the team.”

This “spark” from the younger players and Senior leadership is a recipe for a good end to the season.

Winning is fun and the team is having a good time while on this streak.

Caroline Roe said, “We have hit a hot streak and are winning a lot of games. We have been having fun which is what it is all about.”

A postseason is always the goal for the team to start the year. When it comes to the playoffs, the team is falling behind.

Meredith Beach said, “We just have to take it one game at a time. We can’t worry about anyone except for ourselves. We have to take care of our business to have a shot.”

The Braves have been gaining momentum and the Franklin win did nothing but help this hot streak.
