This year’s Girls 2016 swim is diving into the season with a few changes.

Head captains Taylor Jensen, Frances Dizard, and Alaina Van Hollebeke are looking forward to making this year more fun and making sure that their fellow teammates work hard and make it to the metro championships.

“We have a lot more girls this year.” Said senior captain Frances Dizard. “Most of our faster swimmers graduated but we have some new girls who are pretty fast too”

Losing some of their most valuable seniors the team is ecstatic to have new, young and fast girls join the team. The newest additions are excited to improve as the season goes on. With the new weight lifting and dry land program coach McCloskey believes it will really get the girls in shape for this season, bringing them together as a stronger and more built team.

“We added a weight lifting/dryland program this season on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-7:30am before school.” said  McCloskey .”This will be a tremendous help for the sprinters later in the season.”

Even though the girls came up short in their last meet against Roosevelt who have some of the fastest girls in state. The team is just as excited to show their spirit next time and show off the true meaning of brave pride.

“I believe this year the team is going to have much more spirit” said senior Grace Snyder. “We also are doing some great conditioning to help us prepare. I’m most excited for the great teamwork and also greatly improving my time”

The Girls swim team believe that if they keep up the good work and keep the great positive attitude they will make it to metros and districts. Captains believe that the main focus this year will be improvement on times and keeping the team chemistry at an all time high.
