The Bishop Blanchet Girls Cross-Country team traveled to Pasco on Saturday November 5th and placed
6th in State. This was a big accomplishment for the team and a great way to end the season.
“The girls have been working really hard to make State,” said senior Rachel Miller. “I think, for
me and others who have had this dream for our entire high-school careers, it was a really
special moment. All our hard work over the past four years has paid off.”
The team had one of its best years in a long time. The seniors had their eyes set on this goal since they were freshmen and, four years later, that goal was realized.
“We placed really well,” said Sophomore Abby Hecko. “We were expected to place 8th or 9th,
so the fact that we placed 6th was really awesome. I think everyone raced their hearts out.”
The girls haven’t placed in the top 15 since 2012, so being able to finish 6th in State is an
incredible accomplishment. They more than achieved their goal.
“We have so many seniors,” said Junior Emma Flood. “It really helps our team to have such
great leadership. I’m glad we were able to go to State and place in the top ten for them. I know
this has been a goal for them since their Freshman year.
