This past Tuesday, March 14th, three teenagers were accused of firing gunshots at the D.B. Todd Market in Nashville, Tennessee because they were given a pizza with the wrong toppings, according to police.

This situation leaves me perplexed.

Allow me to start off by stating that what these three teenagers did is completely and utterly wrong. That being said, I understand how they felt. We’ve all been in this position. We’ve all felt as though we wanted to do something barbaric out of frustration; however those of us with common sense aren’t stupid enough to actually do such things.

The three teenagers—Djuan Bowers, 18, Tynerick Turner, 17, and a 16-year-old whose name was not made available to the public—were charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault, unlawful handgun possession, and vehicle theft, after they made the foolish decision to open fire at the market.

It seems as though I will continue to relay you the following message to no avail: stupid people do stupid things. They don’t need even need to be employed, being stupid simply doesn’t take a day off.

Before I can continue on, I feel as though I need to repeat myself so that you can wrap your head around the totality of this bizarre situation: These young men shot up a market because the clerk gave them the incorrect toppings on their pizza… Live with this information for a moment.

Ladies and gentlemen, these boys were dead wrong. They chose the absolute worst way to retaliate to mishandling of their pizza order. This was an extremely poor choice by these three teens, it’s as simple as that. They made a terrible decision which is exactly why their lives are in shambles right now.

All that said, even though they were dead wrong, I feel them. I would be remiss if I did acknowledge my empathy with these boys and their genuine frustration.

If you think I’m delusional, ask yourself: what is truly more aggravating than a restaurant getting your order wrong? It doesn’t matter the restaurant—five star, or fast food—when your order is messed up, there’s no denying you feel some type of way about it.

In no way am I condoning how these boys chose to act on their frustration. They are being punished to the fullest extent of the law for their actions and rightfully so. All I’m attempting to point out is that we’ve all felt this anger penetrate our thoughts before.

To some capacity, we’ve all felt slighted and disrespected because somebody got our order wrong. If you’re fortunate enough, you’ve had the pleasure of dealing with an employee who attempts to pin the blame on you upon asking for your correct order.

Don’t get it twisted, though, shooting up the establishment is absolutely the wrong move.

Bowers is currently being held on $50,000 bond, while Turner and the 16-year-old are being held in Juvenile Court.

To wrap up on an insightful note, it is important to learn patience. It is imperative to handle your problems in an appropriate manner, as well make smart decisions now for the sake of your future.

Trust me on this one. You don’t want to spend a decade of your life locked up, only to wake up one morning and realize: “Damn, I threw my life away over some extra cheese, ranch dressing, and buffalo chicken.”
