After a commanding, 16-4 win over Roosevelt on April 7, the men’s lacrosse team looked to have found its footing in a difficult beginning to the season; however, after 17-6 and 18-8 losses to Bainbridge and Seattle Prep, respectively, the Braves’ struggles seem to be here to stay.

“It’s tough because we have the talent,” said senior attacker Matt Higgins. “It’s frustrating to drop all the games.”

The Prep loss dropped the Braves’ record on the season to 2-8. Chances at the postseason look bleak, at best. Despite the record being poor, the team believes it does not reflect their talent. With many returning senior and multiple all-Metro shoe-ins, it is truly perplexing that the team cannot seem to find a way to win more games.

Senior middie Will Curran attempts a pass against Bainbridge.

“We have guy like Scott [Doquilo] and Jackson [Brown] who are so talented,” said senior midfielder Colin Curran. “But also we are solid throughout, I don’t understand why we aren’t getting results.”

Another blow was dealt to the team when senior Jaybray Doyle-Hupf quit the team for personal reasons. A talented goalkeeper, his absence has been felt at the back. Another quality member of the defense, senior Lucas Gordon, has been dealing with a leg injury that has kept him out of most games.

“Obviously, you want guys like Lucas [Gordon] out there,” said senior midfielder Jack Manca.

The Braves hope to begin an improved run of form in their next game at Genesee against O’Dea on May 2.
