Girls Cross Country sprints into the new season with a strong start

The BBHS girls cross country team is starting the season off strong with multiple goals for the season in mind, and an urge to achieve those goals. With the new talents of the incoming freshman, and the talented returners, the team is sure to have a successful season with many personal records and team improvements.

With cross country being a non-cut sport, this not only gives everyone the opportunity to participate, but it also gives the teammates an opportunity build connections with other fellow braves. The girls team is focusing on bonding as a whole, so that they can run with unity during their races. Although in a way cross country is a personal sport where you try and set your own personal record, it is as much a team sport.

The team really excelled during their meet on September 15th at lower Woodland against Holy Names, Eastside Catholic, and Rainier Beach. Senior Emma flood came in 5th place with a time of 20:23.13. We also had Olivia Freeman coming in 11th place, Abby Hecko in 12th place, and Danielle Jaculewicz coming in 13th place.

“We had a ton of people come out to support”, “It was really exciting to have so many fans because cross country doesn’t typically attract a lot of people”  said senior Emma Flood. The brave community continues to support and cheer on the girls cross country team at the meets.

The girls next meet is Magnusen park on Wednesday the 20th, at 3:40 pm. The team hopes to improve each teammates personal records, but overall run strong as a whole.
