This past week, the Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball team played against Chief Sealth and Lakeside striking them both down in two matches, and winning both rounds with high scores.

The Chief Sealth game score came to 25 – 1 the first match and 25 – 4 in the second. The girls played well with many accomplishments. Junior Eliza Merriman had 10 aces in a row, serving the other team with brutal hits. Sophomore Ava Alan had six kills, while Olivia Zinsmeyer had 6 digs, as well as Lauren Lindblad having her first block of the season.

“To be honest, we all didn’t break a sweat the whole game,” said sophomore Fiona Larson on the Chief Sealth game. “The whole game felt a bit slow. I felt bad that we beat them, 25 – 1 the first match and 25 – 4 in the second, but at least we got some serving practice in!”

Only a few days later, the JV team played against Lakeside and beat them with a score of 25 – 12 the first match and 25 – 17 in the second. The Braves played with exceptional skill. Erin Doppleman set seventeen assists, while Hana McFarland had nine kills. Both Lauren Lindblad and Kaitlin Flinn served three aces.

The Junior Varsity Volleyball team is only half way through their season, with eight more scheduled games before the playoffs begin. Their next game is October 2nd, against Eastside Catholic at Eastside.

During the month of October, the volleyball program is celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month. The teams will be selling pink bracelets for donations of at least one dollar, and ask that at home games fellow Brave supporters wear pink in solitude for those suffering or had suffered from breast cancer.
