Swim Team Blows Bubbles Into Faces of Doubters

As the 2017-18 swim team began meeting this summer, you could tell that it was going to be a good season.

As it stands right now, BBHS Girls Swim Team is 3-0 and ranked above both Lakeside High School and Holy Names Academy.

After gaining around 15 swimmers this year, the BBHS Swim team definitely feels the effects.

“My freshmen year we had maybe 20 girls,” said junior Maddie Gudrian. “Last year we got up to 25-30, this year we have 45 swimmers so practice is hectic”

Gudrian says that since the team is doing so well, Coach Mike McCloskey is feeling good.

“Mike, our head coach,” said Gudrian, “has only yelled at us once this season.”

The girls on the team really enjoy having Mike as a coach because he can help the girls in a way that not all coaches can.

“He has four daughters,” said Gudrian, “which makes it easy for us to talk to him about our problems because he knows how to handle it.”

The team is also excited because they are going to state for the first time in quite a few years.

“We’re finally going to state this year after 5 years of not going,” said Gudrian.

Overall the Bishop Blanchet Girls Swim Team is doing very well this season and has high hopes as a team.
