That Wraps Up Another Season of JV Volleyball

The Junior Varsity Volleyball team, lead by head coach Lisa Srithongsuk and assistant coaches Kye Wong and Molly Manca, has finished up their season with amazing ending score of twelve wins to two losses and placing second in each of their two tournaments.

This year, the Blanchet Braves Junior Varsity Volleyball team made many three to zero wins against other teams including Chief Seattle and Lakeside. They competed in two tournaments this year, The Edmonds Woodway Invite and the Bothell JV Tournament.

The girls on this team this year were a mix of freshman, sophomores, and juniors. The freshman were Olivia Zinsmeyer, Ava Sanchez, and Lauren Lindblad. The sophomores were: Fiona Larson, Kaitlin Flinn, Liza Roe, Erin Droppelman, Elizabeth Allen, Hana Mcfarlane, Justine Spyridis, and Ava Alan. The only junior and captain this year’s JV team was Eliza Merriman.

“I think coming into our season we didn’t all know each other so we didn’t work as well together, we didn’t click,” said Merriman. “But throughout the season, we improved a lot. We talked more on the court and all started contributing our skills and relying on each other.”

Many of the girls were quite unfamiliar with each other at the start of the season, though through many hard and dedicated practices and games, the girls learned to speak to each other on and off the court, bringing up their team morale, and overall skill level.

A lasting memory for the team was at their last tournament, they beat a team they expected to lose against. As the other team warmed up, the girls saw their talent and skill and forgot that, they have just that too. They played well, in confidence with each other, to come out winning at the end.

“The success of the season was due to the hard work on and off the court,” said Srithongsuk. “The team practiced with dedication and determination and it showed all season long. Way to go Braves.”

Yes, indeed, way to go Braves.
