On Saturday, October 28, the Boys’ Cross Country team placed a disappointing eighth in the 5,000 Meter race and failed to qualify for the State meet as a team.

“It’s unfortunate that the whole team didn’t qualify’” said senior Drew Schornak.“A few runners will continue on but I wish the rest of us could as well.”

Leading the Braves was Drew Schornak, who placed twelfth overall with a time of 16:17.01. Michael Lewis placed thirtieth with a time of 16:39.06, and Nicky DiMartino placed thirty-eighth with a PR time of 16:55.02. Regardless, Blanchet as a whole struggled badly. The Braves finished with a 98 point differential between them and the top team.

“We were a talented group and had an opportunity to achieve a lot more but just didn’t compete the strongest and as a result we fell short of our goals.” said senior Will Fleming.

The team knows the fell short and there’s a lot of mixed feelings towards the season because of that. Although the team didn’t qualify for state, their are individual runners competing at the 3A WIAA State XC meet on Saturday, November 4. The meet is located at Sun Willows Golf Course, Pasco, WA and the time has yet to be determined.
