Girls Swim Their Way to State

The 2017 season was extremely successful for Bishop Blanchet’s Girls Swim Team.

The year came to an end last week after the state swim meet where freshmen Ella Haskins placed 6th in both the 50m free and 100m fly. Overall, the team who sent four swimmers to state came in 22nd out of 28.

Although Haskins led the team to state, the girls 200m freestyle relay also did a very good job.

The state swim meet was held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, where the 4 swimmers competed, being cheered on by a large fan section with many team mates.

Cale Fuoco, the girls swim team manager, was in charge of buying snacks and drinks for the team and coaches, helping facilitate meets and practices, and even helping out if a coach couldn’t make it. Because Fuoco attended all swim events, he had a very good impression of how the season went.

“A lot of the girls felt very accomplished,” said Fuoco, “and very proud of themselves to qualify for State.”
