Freshmen Girls Basketball Swoops into Action

The Freshmen Girls basketball team is off to a great start this 2017-2018 season with a 2-1 record.

In just the few short weeks since the season began, the girls have claimed victories over both Seattle Prep and Holy Names.

As all Blanchet students know, Seattle Prep is our biggest rival and many of our students would do anything for the opportunity to beat them; the freshmen girls basketball team did exactly that.

Coach Froland said that beating Prep was definitely one of her favorite memories from the season so far.

“We were down, and the team played very hard defense, but they never gave up,” said Froland. “They were tenacious”.

Froland is joined on the coaching staff with Mrs. Olsen, long time Blanchet PE teacher.

Froland says that her favorite thing about coaching the girls is how energetic and aggressive they are.

“The team this year is really aggressive and fun to watch,” said Froland. “And all of that showed during the game against Prep”.

Froland believes that the girls are off to a great start this season and she can’t wait to see where the team goes this year.

“I love teaching new skills to players and watching them improve.”
