Season 4 of Back Mirror came back better than ever. This futuristic drama has pulled me in since season one. This series is unlike any other show I have ever watched.

Although this season was extremely entertaining, it was also very difficult to watch. The show is designed to make the viewers think about the future of our society, and all of the crazy things that could happen in our technology-driven world.  All of the episodes are a different story. They are all about different scenarios where some aspect of society is heightened to a whole new level.

For example, in one of the episodes titled “Arkangel”, a mother decides to install a device in her daughter’s brain to monitor and control everything that the daughter saw. This allowed the mom to blur images that she didn’t want her daughter seeing. This episode’s main idea was to show how technology could change the relationship between parents and their children regarding privacy and parental control.

In another episode couples are paired together through a device called “Coach”. This device forces couples to go on dates with as many people until they find “The One”. The device also tells them how long they will be with that person, weather it be 5 years or 1 hour. It basically controls all aspects of their relationships. This episode plays a lot with the idea of a speaking device that you can communicate with such as Google’s “Alexa” which is programmed to talk like a real person. Except in this episode the device controls their lives and who they end up loving.

Overall, I really liked the 4th season. Although it was pretty freaky to think about society potentially being like that in 50 or so years, it was super entertaining and fun to watch. I would especially recommend it to anyone who generally likes sci-fi or horror shows. Even if you don’t generally enjoy those genres, I think you would still enjoy it.
