It’s that time of year again, the annual DeMiero Jazz Festival is back; and the Blanchet Jazz students had the opportunity to experience a fun filled day of jazz.

Blanchet’s Jazz Choir had the opportunity to make their way up to Edmonds last Friday, March 2nd, to participate in the 42nd annual DeMiero Jazz Festival. Opening on March 1st and lasting until March 3rd, attendees of the c had the opportunity to experience jazz clinics, workshops, and performances. While there the Blanchet Jazz Choir had the opportunity to perform, and watch professional artists perform such as Grammy-nominated artists René Marie and international star Dee Daniels. Along with these headline catching names, over sixty other schools and community jazz choirs were in attendance and had the opportunity to showcase their talents.

“The DeMiero Jazz Festival was an amazing opportunity,” said senior Markus Millan, “We were able to perform the pieces we have been working on so hard throughout the year, and it was really cool to see all the hard work pay off.”

While at the DeMiero Jazz Festival Blanchet’s Jazz Choir had  the opportunity to put all their hard work to use, performing a set of songs for all those who attended the DeMiero Jazz Festival. After their performance the jazz choir stayed to watch the other performance and enjoy the end result of other schools countless hours of practice.

“I love performing in festivals with the Jazz Choir,” said Junior Maia Heffernan, “It was fun showcasing all the hard work we put into our songs and see all other school perform.”
