BBHS Boys Soccer Kicks Off Their Season

An exciting season is upon us as the roster for the 2018 Bishop Blanchet boys soccer team was finalized February 28 with several new and returning players.

With the loss of seven superstar players from the class of 2017, the line up is in for big changes. Seniors Samuel Peerce, Matthew Campbell, Jack Deane, Lukas Delen, and Elijah Sherwood will provide the leadership for the new squad.

Senior midfielder Sherwood is optimistic that the new changes will positively transform the team.

“I want to make this a memorable senior season,” said Sherwood. “Our team will be very young, which is a big change, but hopefully that means Blanchet will have a promising future.”

Aside from the pre-season excitement, the athletes experienced a torrential downpour during the last day of tryouts. With the junior varsity and varsity team rosters complete, the varsity team has yet to elect a co-captain to accompany Lukas Delen.

Similarly to Eli, junior Sebastian Grillo believes the new young soccer team will have a good season.

“Tryouts were good,” said Grillo. “Even though it was very rainy and cold, the team is going to be decent this year. There are some pretty good freshmen like Rowan Rathburn.”

The season kicks off with their first game against Lynnwood at 5:30 PM at Blanchet on Friday, March 9, 2018.
