Japanese Week

March 5 – 9 will be Japanese Week at Bishop Blanchet, a week in which we celebrate the Japanese culture and language.

For Japanese week 2017, the class made teriyaki and sold it at lunch, while giving the school reflections about the culture and language.

Cale Fuoco says that this year, the Japanese class will be hanging posters around the school, and making teriyaki within the class. They elected to only make their food for the class because of the expense and time consuming nature of the dish.

Teriyaki was such a hit last year that students from all classes enjoyed the snack.

“I was too busy on school work to buy the food,” said Nate Lewis. “But I imagined that it would have been amazing.”

Catherine Adkisson is a senior Japanese student who helped organize the Japanese Week activities.

“We are going to live up to our reputation for having the most decorative week,” said Adkisson. “With Origami, posters, and other fun things.”

Adkisson also says that they plan to have a cosplay competition at lunch for anyone who wants to participate.

Overall, Japanese week will be a fun time for the Japanese class to show their appreciation for the Japanese culture and language.
