Girls Basketball Fights as they Finish

In a hard-fought contest, the Bishop Blanchet varsity basketball team defeated Franklin.

Finishing strong is a goal for each coach and player. They all hope to do so by continuing to succeed in the things they have done well, and continuing to work on the things that aren’t going well either in practices or games.

Miller scored 18 points against the Quakers last night and had an overall impressive game according to her teammates.

“I am happy with the way we are ending the regular season,” said sophomore Minnie Miller, “We have put in the work to grow over the course of the season, and we are still putting in that work.”

The seniors on the team are feeling slightly overwhelmed, and some of them emotional about ending their high school basketball career.

“Our regular season ends on Friday,” said senior Katie Merrywell, “My last season playing high school basketball went by way too fast!”

Jillese Bush is one senior in particular who is sad about the abrupt ending of her high school basketball career.

“I’m super bummed about my injury,” said senior Jillese Bush, “It happened in our game against Garfield. I’m out for the remainder of the season and sad to see my high school basketball career end this way.”

The team punched a ticket to the district tournament with this win.

The girls conclude their regular season with a game against Lakeside on Friday, February 2, at Lakeside High School.
