This 2018 season Molly Olney and her fellow captains and teammates hope to build a more unified team and to achieve many accomplishments together, even with losing games.

With the tryouts for spring sports happening just about three weeks ago, the girls junior varsity and varsity lacrosse have already had a had a difficult time at the start of the season. The varsity team played in three short games called a jamboree, against Peninsula, Ballard, and Sumner high school this past Saturday, March 10, 2018.

“We beat Peninsula but lost to Ballard and Sumner. The games that we lost we played really well and fought hard.” said Molly Olney.

Although the team would have liked to have won all three of the games, they have high hope of winning their first official game of the season on Monday, March 12, against Bethel high school at Art Crate Field at 5:00 pm.

This season the girls lacrosse team had a record number of girls trying out to make the varsity team. Unfortunately, all thirty-two girls that tried out could not make the varsity team. And some had to be placed on junior varsity.

This was not the first year the school has fielded two teams. With such a large number of girls on both teams the program remains healthy.

“Last year,” said Olney “due to injuries we had girls on varsity playing in jv games and visa versa, so basically it was a combined team with two different schedules.” when asked about whether or not this was the first year that the girls varsity and jv played on two separate teams.

Olney has high hopes for the season and the feature of the program.

“My goals are to build (both) a team culture and (a) brand and to accomplish great things together.”

Along with Olney, Lindsey Reppe and Morgan Demeulemeester also serve as captains. With Olyney playing attack, Reppe playing goalie, and Demeulemeester playing both midfield and attack, the team has strong leadership on all fronts
