Counting Down to Finals

The stress of finals, projects and grades is surrounding the Blanchet students as Finals Week and the end of the semester quickly approach.

With one week left until finals, the students are beginning to feel the pressure. Teachers are assigning last minute tests and projects, and the final study guides are being passed out. Students say they find teachers cram a lot of work into the weeks leading up to finals, and it can be very stressful. They find that teachers assign a lot of work and expect a lot from the students, but that it is helpful when preparing for the tests.

“I have more tests, but I have a project to review”, said senior Katie Merrywell, “It’s a lot of work, but it’s helpful for review.”

Other students are overwhelmed by the workload. A lot of teachers are scheduling last minute tests and projects.

“I’m so stressed”, said senior Ella Dipietro “I have like three tests this week.”

Finals can be a stressful time for some students. Worrying about not having high enough grades, or maintaining the grades they have is something that consumes the students minds. Students have a varying number of finals, ranging from 2-7. Stress can not only be caused by grades, but other factors as well.

“My teachers are causing me a lot less stress,” said senior Justin Brown “but, I have too much work, and I also can’t write, so that’s fun.”

Justin recently got surgery on his left shoulder, and is unable to write since his arm is strapped to his side with a large sling that immobilizes him. This is making it very difficult for him to write, fully participate in class, and study to the best of his ability. He is nervous that this will effect the result of his finals.

Overall, the Blanchet student body seems nervous for finals, but they are excited to start the second semester. The seniors are especially excited, because there is a lot in store for them as second semester seniors. Prom, Tradition Week, and college decision are all things the Seniors are looking forward to going into their last semester of highschool.

Finals will take place next week. Periods 1 and 2 will be on wednesday, periods 3, 4, and 5 will take place on thursday, and periods 7 and 8 will take place on friday.
