The Blanchet Jv Girls Lacrosse Team traveled all the way to Port Angeles and put on a show, defeating North Olympic by a resounding score and building team chemistry.

The team endured a long trek to Port Angeles on Thursday, April 13. According to Anna Cougar, the bus ride allowed for great team bonding and probably had a positive effect on their performance that night. Cougar proceeded to lead the team in scoring with six goals.

“I just felt really confident that game,” said Cougar in an interview at school. “My teammates were really supportive.”

Cougar’s teammates shared her point about the supportive environment that the team has. Against North Olympic many of the girls were able to score their first goals, which was exciting for both the scorers and their teammates.

“I scored my first goal against North Olympic, which was super exciting”, said Frances Allen in an interview. “We are all supportive of each other and work cooperatively and intensely.”

The girls went on to play Seattle Prep on Monday the 16th at Lakeside, losing pretty handily. The panthers were just a little more skilled, but the braves put up a good fight.

“The team showed great effort on defense, with impressive double-teams on the ball,” said head coach Anna Gustafson. “And on attack, moved the ball well and took good shots.”

The Brave girls acknowledged that even though they lost, they played well as a team, running a lot of plays and using the loss as a learning experience. You can’t win every game, and often what is most important is what you learned during the process.

“While we did loose, we held our own and still had fun,” said Elizabeth ZajaczKowski. “Overall, this season has been a great learning experience for both the new and experienced girls on our team.”

The Braves Girls look to get a victory in their next against Ballard at home on Tuesday the 24th.
