It’s Metro League playoff time again and the Blanchet girls varsity soccer team is ready to begin post-season competition with high expectations.

The varsity girls are looking to repeat their success from the 2013 season; however, Coach Nils Dahlgren says that the team is hoping to remain modest.

“We hope to seize the 2014 Metro Title like it’s our first,” said Dahlgren.

From his perspective, this is an entirely new squad than from previous seasons.

The team is being lead into metros by captains Margret Steiner, Erica Blume, and Anna Catherine Wass. The three have been on the varsity team since freshman year and have already helped the Braves finish their regular season with a 10-1-3 record.

The team placed second in the Mountain division of the Metro conference.  It will play the third place team of the Sound division, which is the Eastside Catholic Crusaders.

Dahlgren anticipates the biggest challenge of Metros will be for the team to play the best it can as a unit.

“We must start winning the game from the first kick, from warmups, and from the bus ride to the field,” said Dahlgren.

The Varsity girls soccer team has had an extremely progressive season and it hopes to have the same success in the metro playoffs. It begins the playoffs with a game against Eastside Catholic at Ingraham High School on November 1.
