Highs and Lows on The Field

As football season progresses, Blanchet’s JVC team has experienced ups and downs, losing to Archbishop Murphy one week and beating Kamiak the following week.

On September 21st, the young Braves tried their hardest but unfortunately lost their game 48 – 0 against Murphy by a landslide. Nevertheless, the team didn’t let one loss get in the way of their determination. After days of practicing, the boys redeemed themselves by defeating Kamiak High School on Thursday, September 26th.

“We were a little off during the first game” said tight end Payton Snorsky, “it just wasn’t our day”.

Compared to the previous match against Lake Washington, playing Archbishop Murphy was a rough game for the frosh boys. Murphy took the win 48 – 0.

Although losing is never fun, it does build character.  This loss taught the boys what they had to work on for next time. Tough competition inspired the boys to come back better than ever for the forthcoming game against Kamiak.

“We started the game off strong” said Snorsky, “but then our wheels fell off and we slowed down heavily in the second half”.

During the first half of the game, Blanchet took the lead against Kamiak by gaining an entire twenty-two points. Touchdowns were scored by Zach Barber, Colin Campbell and Luke Prinz. The players worked hard throughout the entire game, but they began to let their guard down during the second half as Kamiak crept up on them, scoring fourteen points.

Although exhaustion started to get the best of them, the boys finished strong by holding their spot on the scoreboard as number one. Blanchet conquered Kamiak with a final score of 22 – 14. The team’s next game is against Eastside Catholic on Saturday, October 5th.
