Halloween is right around the corner and there’s one thing on everybody’s mind–candy! Since candy is all the rage during the holiday season, it’s the perfect time to see which candies are popular this year. The price of Halloween candy skyrocketing this year. According to CNBC, the cost of candy continues to surge by more than 13.1% in the U.S. since last September.

According to a KIRO 7 Article published last year, “America’s favorite Halloween candy is Reese’s Cups, followed by Skittles and M&Ms.”A survey was conducted with high school students at Bishop Blanchet revealed an overwhelming preference for Twix, Sour Patch Kids and Sour Straws.

“My favorite candy is sour patch kids because I like all the different flavors,” said senior Rue Jemaneh. This study revealed that sour candy and chocolate candy are equally popular at Bishop Blanchet. Which candy do you prefer? Do you agree with the Bears’ opinions? Regardless, Halloween candy is an essential part of the festivities of Halloween.

Adela Rimkus, a junior, joins the Miter straight away as she begins her years as an upperclassman. She gets her local news from different resources like KING 5 and KIRO 7. She gets her national and world news from BBC and CNN news.   At Blanchet, she’s involved in many extracurricular activities, including the swim and lacrosse team, and challenges herself with classes like AP Language and Composition with Mr. McFeron. Outside of school, she works and spends her free time hanging out  with friends and family.  This year Adela is working in journalism to not only improve her writing skills, but to make sure everyone is included. Her main goal for journalism is to give everyone a voice and to make sure no one feels like they are being unfairly represented.

Isabelle Figueira, Reporter
Isabelle Figueira, a junior, joins the Miter this year as a staff writer. She gets her local news from sources such as KING 5 and KIRO 7, and national news from ABC News.    At Blanchet, she plays varsity tennis with coach Turner. She is one of many leaders in the ski and snowboard club and enjoys anything outdoors. Isabelle loves Blanchet sporting events, and cheering from the stands. She hopes to get involved in more clubs and activities this upcoming year. Outside of school, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the outdoors.     This year in journalism, Isabelle hopes to capture and captivate the spirit of Blanchet through her writing in the Miter and Pallium, our annual yearbook. She looks forward to this year and is excited to take on the challenge of creating one awesome yearbook!
