Beatriz Cuevas, a senior at Bishop Blanchet High School, is delighted to be a new member of the Miter staff. Current events shared through media platforms such as The Miter facilitate the integration of the larger community into Brave events, and Beatriz is eager to be a part of this process. She hopes to hone her journalistic writing skills so as to be proficient in this field of expression. Captain of the Braves Volleyball team and a mentor for Brave Connection, Beatriz spends most of her time after-school at Blanchet. She is also a self-proclaimed “avocado enthusiast” and avid backpacker. Beatriz is a hard-core NPR fan and her favorite talk show -yes, they still exist- Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me integrates entertainment with current events, something she hopes to echo in her work. More trusty news platforms frequented by Beatriz include Last Week Tonight and The Daily Show.
