The hit dramatic-fantasy television show on HBO, Game of Thrones, recently aired the season 6 opener episode on April 24th, 2016, and fans are going crazy.

HBO originally aired the series premiere on April 17, 2011.

Since the series aired, Game of Thrones has been awarded 26 Primetime Emmy Awards and has collected a large fan base worldwide.

The show follows the book A Song of Ice and Fire, an epic series written by George R. R. Martin.

A Game of Thrones is the first volume of seven in the book series A Song of Ice and Fire.

The plot follows along the battle between dynasties of Westeros and Essos and the inner turmoils of royalty and noble families in each medieval, fictional land.

With the dramatic ending of season 5, fans were left in a trivial cliff hanger, sitting on edge for the new season.

“The premiere was good, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions,” said senior Aiden Sharp.

Now with the airing of season 6, many may wonder where the series could go from here with the continual killing off of characters and dramatic plot twists.

“The show is intense,” said senior Kaitlyn Wade, ” It definitely keeps the audience engaged in the plot.”

The vicious, brutal show has been flourishing in the past six years since it aired, but it is certainly not over yet.

Many students at Bishop Blanchet and other communities even set up viewing parties in preparation for the release on the 24th.

For senior Jon Flanagan the character of Hodor is his favorite, and the return of this character was definitely a bonus to the premiere of season 6.

The audience’s attachment to the characters, and interest in the shocking, graphic and brutal plot, is evident in the many positive and lively reviews from the long-awaited premiere of season 6.
