On Tuesday, January 10th, a woman was driving fast on 85th street when her car slipped on ice and she ended up driving through the Blanchet fence, flipped upside down.

“I saw the broken fence on my way to school,” said Leila Al-Shibibi. “I got off at the southbound 85th Street freeway exit and noticed the hole in the fence and cops.”

Many Blanchet students such as senior Stephanos Buhler and junior Elise Gleason took to social media to inform the community about the scary incident that occurred Tuesday morning. Posted Snapchats led to story traveling throughout the school.

“I heard the woman who was driving was okay,” said Makenna Martin. “It’s scary how easily it could have been me or one of my friends.”

Steep hills like as 85th street are part of the commute to work or school for many and as the weather continues to be below freezing, the roads are dangerous. As a large majority of Blanchet students drive themselves to school, they need to be aware of the weather conditions and how easily an accident can happen.
